Making a Difference

Hotels can play a significant role in human trafficking cases and stand to suffer heavy damages if found guilty. Insurance cannot protect a hotel if there is clear evidence that hotel staff was aware of the incidents and failed to act. Insurers of the hospitality industry must make it a priority to educate their clients on the importance of staying attentive and identifying warning signs. First, agents and brokers can consider providing information to their clients regarding the potential warning signs. The Department of Homeland Security shared some health signs to look for, including:   • Malnourishment, poor hygiene or injuries, • The guest in question has no money or identification or is dressing inappropriately for their age, • The owner of the room only pays in cash and frequently brings in new guests. • Guests refuse to allow hotel staff to enter the room but request housekeeping services. To identify these issues, hoteliers need to incorporate strict training...

This Is How You're Supposed to Tip Your Hotel Housekeeper

Image
Day3: Happy International Housekeeping day Leaving a tip for housekeeping is a thoughtful expression that you not only appreciated the hard work a room attendant did in cleaning your room every day but an acknowledgment that the ladies and gentlemen who clean the rooms are typically near the bottom of the economic wage earners and could use the small bonus.  Please remember to be kind. We are all in this life together. Source: Inc  https://lnkd.in/eT5HUvb #nextlevel  #  #guestexperience   #hoteltechnology   #ioi   #iopeninnovations   #safestay365

Flight Attendant shared Hotel Safety Tips

Image
Flight attendant Kat Kamalani recently shared some hotel safety do’s and don’ts in a now-viral TikTok video that has since received over 4 million views. “Always make sure there's no one behind you when going into your room,” Kamalani continued, adding that guests should “check if there's anybody in the room, behind curtains, under the bed, etc.” With our SafeStay365, when you check-in your hotel room, you will get a notification, NO ONE in your room. This provides safety and peace of mind when you stay at your hotel.

Never Forget - 911

Nobody wanted to cancel cops 19 years ago today, said Debra Burlingame, who lost her brother in the 9/11 attacks. Police, firefighters, EMTs, soldiers, chaplains, co-workers, the heroes on Flight 93 -- they all confronted certain death to save others. Source: https://www.bostonherald.com

Honeymoon Experience

Image
While on our honeymoon, my husband and I arrived at our hotel very late. We were exhausted but still excited about this special trip. We checked in but when we tried to open the door to our room we were surprised when we couldn’t get the door to open.    The resistance we felt was a flight attendant who was given the room before we arrived trying to keep out an unknown intruder (us). After a quick discussion, we understood the hotel made a mistake.  They were kind enough to upgrade our room, but it was a terrible way to start our romantic adventure.

Flight Attendant, WHAT?

Image
A  flight attendant — who is 18 years of age and was not publicly identified — was reportedly raped in her hotel room at the Days Inn Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus sometime between 4:00 and 6:00 in the morning on Monday, June 20, 2016, after she arrived at the hotel property with co-workers. According to this article by Daniel Bethencourt of the Detroit Free Press, the “assailant arrived at around the same time as the victim. He drove a separate vehicle, loitered both inside and around the hotel — and at some point Monday morning, the assailant was able to get into the victim’s hotel room, commit rape and leave a short time later. No weapons were seen.” The flight attendant is employed by Air Georgian, which is based in Mississauga, Ontario, and is one of the families of small airlines that operate as Air Canada Express. credit by https://thegate.boardingarea.com/flight-attendant-raped-hotel-room-can-protect/

Why you guys in my room? UNBELIEVABLE ....

Image
My kids and I left for a 5-day vacation, but as we approached the last day, we decided to extend our stay. I spoke to the front desk and told her we wanted to remain in our room for an additional 5 days. I felt relaxed, my room was secure. I can enjoy my extended stay. The kids and I went on an outing and when we returned, we found two hotel employees – a male employee and a female employee, enjoying a private moment in our room. That made me SO mad. How you two in my room?  This was not the way I wanted my kids to learn about the birds and the bees.  Story by Michelle M.

How you get into my room?

Image
My husband travels regularly for business. On a recent trip, he returned to his room and was shocked to find a strange woman inside. She appeared mildly drunk. When my husband demanded to know “WHY” she was in his room, she replied, “This is MY room.” He asked how she got inside, and she said housekeeping let her in because she forgot her key. Of course, she was in the wrong room. Story by Melissa S.

An Extraordinary Hotel Experience

Image
A few years ago, I traveled to Los Angeles for a meeting. I checked into a nice hotel in the night.  Everything went smoothly until I opened the door of the room I’d been assigned. A man came to the door in his pajamas with a toothbrush in his mouth. Fortunately, he was a friend of mine, in town for the same meeting.  We were both "SURPRISED" to see each other in this way.  I told him that this would be a mistake made by the hotel desk. I went back to the hotel desk and told the lady at the desk that someone had occupied the room. She apologized to me and upgraded my room. After the meeting, I checked out of the hotel. I found that the hotel did not charge both rooms. It was an extraordinary experience, but I was lucky. I could not imagine what might have had happened if the guest in the room had been not a friend. It was a close call. Story by Kuang W.

When I opened my hotel room, what do I hear... Seroiusly?

" As a businessman, I travel a lot.  One time I was at the CES convention, you know, it's a really Big show.  When I returned to my hotel, used my room key to open the door, guess what, there's a person in the shower - ' Seriously'? " " If I was a bad person, I could go check out who was in there, but, I didn't.  I went to the front desk, they apologized to me, they were so sorry, they even comped my room." I wish the hotel had the technology so guests could actually see their room status.  If I'm a guy and think about these things, I can only imagine how businesswomen traveling alone feels.
